Medford, OR — Cascade had strong possession from the first whistle. They worked together to maintain possession for the majority of the game. The girls started off strong with a powerful cross in the box from Emma Coats to Sienna Wilcox to score a goal in the 18th minute. Lakeview took an opportunity on a Cascade defensive miscommunication and equalized in the 30th minute. Sienna Wilcox countered back 6 minutes later by good team passing up the field. Right before the end of the first half, a corner kick service from Mae Ferriera turned an own goal from Lakeview by a mistaken header which ended the first half with the score at 3-1. The second half was a battle for possession and with an incredible diving save from Josie Scaglione in the 66th minute and an on the line, over the head save in the 75th minute kept the Challengers with the commanding lead. The second half was scoreless, but there were on goal shots taken by Angelica Arce, Gertie Wine, Jordynn Jones, Emma Coats, and Lindsey Hutcheson. This first non-league game against Lakeview was a team win and the Lady Challengers will face the Honkers again at the end of September.
