Leesport, PA — By Chris DeAntonio — MikeDragoSports.com correspondent Logan Nawrocki made program history Friday as he led Schuylkill Valley past Columbia 42-6 in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 5 matchup in Leesport. Nawrocki threw five touchdown passes, including three in the first quarter, but the most significant play for the Panthers was his 54-yard pass to Luke Spotts. Logan Nawrocki Spotts didn’t score but the pass made Nawrocki Schuylkill Valley’s all-time passing leader. He broke the record of 3,749 yards set by Kyle Beissel; Nawrocki finished the night with 3,911 yards. “It feels awesome,” Nawrocki said of breaking the mark. “We worked so much, starting in my freshman year. We just kept working. “I just want to thank everyone who has ever been involved, especially all my coaches, my offensive line, my receivers. It’s awesome just to do this.” The Panthers called a timeout and took a moment to celebrate the accomplishment as Nawrocki chatted with head coach Bruce Harbach on the sideline. “I didn’t even know about (the record) until I walked out here on the field,” said Harbach. “Logan is going to add to it, too.” He added to it on the next play as he capped the drive off with a touchdown pass to Logan Cammauf. Nawrocki finished 13-of-14 for 247 yards. He matched the program record with five TD passes; he joined that club last year in a win over Kutzown. “(The record) sort of just happened,” said Nawrocki. “I knew about it, people talked about it. But I just want to win. It’s cool that it happened, but I’m more worried about the win.” Section 5 Sch. Valley 4-0 5-2 Hamburg 3-1 5-2 Lanc. Obviously, we didn’t have a letdown.” Nawrocki got the scoring started with a 17-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Lackner on Schuylkill Valley’s first possession. He threw his second touchdown on their next offensive play — a 40-yarder to Kowen Gerner. Logan Cammauf’s 9-yard touchdown catch put Schuylkill Valley (4-0, 5-2) up 21-0 in the first quarter. The Panthers led 35-0 at halftime after Lackner’s second touchdown reception and a rushing score from Brandon Pyle. Nawrocki’s last touchdown pass was a 16-yarder to Gerner on the first possession of the second half. Cooper Hohenadel led the way on the ground for the Panthers, finishing with 97 yards on 10 carries. Schuylkill Valley’s defense dominated the Crimson Tide (0-4, 0-7); Columbia didn’t pick up a first down until the second quarter. “We want our kids to play hard,” said Harbach. “Our goal is to take care of business and get out of the game safe and unscathed. We did that.” Columbia got on the board late in the third quarter on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Cameron McClair to Miguel Aviles. McClair completed 7-of 15 pass attempts for 36 yards and a touchdown. He also carried the ball 10 times for 94 yards. 1 2 3 4 Final Columbia 0 0 6 0 6 Schuylkill Valley 21 14 7 0 42 Scoring summary 1 Schuylkill Valley Lackner, 17 pass from Nawrocki (Wamsher kick) 7:34 1 Schuylkill Valley Gerner, 40 pass from Nawrocki (Wamsher kick) 5:33 1 Schuylkill Valley Cammauf, 9 pass from Nawrocki (Wamsher kick) 1:51 2 Schuylkill Valley Lackner, 30 pass from Nawrocki (Wamsher kick) 10:39 2 Schuylkill Valley Pyle, 1 run (Nawrocki kick) 1:06 3 Schuylkill Valley Gerner, 16 pass from Nawrocki (Wamsher kick) 9:03 3 Columbia Aviles, 11 pass from McClair (McClair pass failed) 1:10 Team statistics Columbia Schuylkill Valley First downs 6 19 Rushes-yards 25-73 29-223 Passing yards 36 247 Total yards 109 470 Passes 7-15-0 13-15-0 Fumbles-lost 4-0 3-1 Punts-average 6-40.3 0-0 Penalties-yards 3-21 6-50 Individual statistics RUSHING Columbia: McClair 10-94, Nichols 8-13, Reese Jr. 1-5, Brommer 1-3, Griffy 1-(-2), Team 4-(-40).
