Bethlehem, PA — The Avengers came into Sundays championship game with great pitching performances on Saturday. Sunday saw the same resulting in the win and a trophy. Tanner Karwacki took the mound to start for The Avengers. Karwacki went four solid inning only allowing 1 earned run and kept his team within striking distance. The defense played well behind their started only misfiring on a set pick off play to first that allowed a run to score and a ball tha popped out of Wamplers glove on a play at the plate after a dart from center was thrown by Evan Schultz. The offense once again struggled to find a grove until the 4th inning down by 2 runs. Jake Santiago executed a hit and run scoring Wampler and Ruggeri to tie the game and give the boys a little momentum. Nazareth would continue to fight by opening up the 5th with a double to left center field. That is when Dom Ruggeri was called in in relief. Ruggeri would strikeout the first batter he faced. Wampler would then gun down the Blue Eagle trying to steal third which erased the lead off double. Dom in true fashion would then record the third out with a strike out and showed his emotion come off the mound with a LETS GO! Wampler had a sacrifice fly in the 5th to put The Avengers up 1 run and got another opportunity in the 6th to seal it and did with a ringing double with the bases loaded that cleared the bases. Womplerโ€™s doubled stretched the lead to 10-3 and Ruggeri would lock it down in the 7th by striking out the side. The Avengers start their 2024 season off with a championship win setting themselves up for a great season.
