Bethlehem, PA — The Avengers went into its opening weekend of their Spring 2024 season with a bragging rights battle against cross town rival club LVBA. Dom Ruggeri started the game on the bump and allowed 1 unearned run on no hits over 3 innings. The offense tallied 10 hits on the game but it took till the top of the 7th inning to get a hit with runners in scoring position. Nolan Wampler got the party started in the 7th with a lead off double. After a nice play by Prospects center fielder to rob Ruggeri of a base hit, Myles Casey came up and lined a single to left field scoring Wampler. Danny Fries and Brooks Weatherhold combined in relief to record 4 scoreless innings, scattering 3 hit, and punching out 4 Prospects in their effort. Pitching would prove to be the key and Casey’s RBI single the deciding factor in the win.
