Timothy Venditti’s Clutch Hitting Propels Burnt Hills to First Round Playoff Victory over Amsterdam, 15-9

Amsterdam, NY — Timothy Venditti drove in six runs on two hits to lead Burnt Hills past Amsterdam 15-9 on Thursday at Shuttleworth Park in a first round Sectional matchup. Venditti hit a grand slam to left field in the sixth scoring four and singled in the second scoring two.
Amsterdam got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after two errors and a Giomar Objio single, scoring two runs, and a passed ball scored one run.
Burnt Hills took the lead in the top of the second inning after Anthony Renaud grounded out, and Venditti singled, each scoring two runs.
A double by Logan McNeal, and a single by Silas Marvin helped the Spartans extend their early lead in the third.
Jude Flint hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the third for the Rams.
Ben Yerina earned the win for Burnt Hills. The righty surrendered one hit and three runs (zero earned) over two innings, striking out five and walking one. Christopher Puliafico pitched three innings in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up four hits and four runs while, striking out three and walking one. Patrick Vidulich took the loss for Amsterdam. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up nine runs (five earned) on eight hits, striking out none and walking two.
Burnt Hills collected 14 hits in the game. Yerina went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the team. Puliafico, McNeal, and Marvin each collected multiple hits. Marvin and Matt Martin each stole multiple bases for Burnt Hills. The Spartans stole seven bases in the game.
Rhys Urbanczyk provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Amsterdam with three runs batted in. The first baseman went 1-for-3 on the day. Logan Miller and Ross Sanders each collected two hits.
Burnt Hills moves on to the second round of the Sectional playoffs. They will face Bethlehem on the road, Saturday at 1pm.
