Williamsport, PA — It took Loyalsock running back Dolan Harman just two plays to set the tone on Friday night, shedding a few tackles before bursting down the sideline for a 64-yard gain. He proceeded to have a field day, totaling 224 yards on 30 carries and three receptions and finding the endzone twice, the latter of which featured multiple Spartans on his back. Quarterback Danny Dowell complimented him on the ground, using his agility to post two goal-line scores, and the defense produced two turnovers, one turnover on downs, and seven three-and-outs as Loyalsock routed Hughesville, 30-3, to improve to 2-1. The performance followed an excruciating, shutout loss at the hands of Southern Columbia last week, one which displayed some of the growing pains the team is dealing with after seeing a tremendous amount of last year’s production graduate. Head coach Justin VanFleet and his team put the loss past them and worked hard throughout the week to ensure they could bounce back come Friday. “It’s all about preparation and it’s not about desire on Friday night, it’s about desire when you come to work, when no one’s watching,” said VanFleet after the win. “Last week’s in the past. We learned a lot about ourselves and a lot about where we want to be, and this week was evidence of the work that we put in during the course of the week.” It was a clear case of one line outperforming the other on both sides of the ball.https://www.sungazette.com/sports/local-sports/2024/09/harman-dowell-lead-lancers-to-bounce-back-win-over-hughesville/
