Easton, PA — The JV Rovers were victorious against Phillipsburg on Saturday 8-5. After falling behind 2-0 in the first, Easton took the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the second on RBI on a groundout by Max Martenis and a single by pitcher Deegan Keller. After P'Burg tied the contest in the sixth, Easton jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the frame. After a double down the left field line by Jacob Hackman and a well-executed sacrifice bunt by Martenis, Easton scored four in the inning to take a commanding 8-4 lead. Nolan stem earned the victory on the mound for the JV Rovers. The reliever allowed four hits and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking one. Deegan Keller got the start for Easton. The right-hander allowed eight hits and three runs over five innings, striking out six and walking four. The JV Rovers collected seven hits in the game. Keller, Hackman, Kurtis Crossman, and Brody Dech each had big hits for Easton. The Junior Varsity Rovers will travel to Liberty for their next game on Tuesday. Game time 4pm at LHS.
