Lapeer, MI — Clarkston filled in on short notice for Lakeland who did not have a freshman team. Lapeer Freshman Football hosted a good Clarkston Wolves program today at Fitzpatrick Field in Lapeer. Lapeer lost a few players to injury very early in the game, but ultimately Lapeer penalties and turnovers were the story of the game which gave Clarkston a short field on multiple possessions. Lapeer turned the ball over 5 total times in the game but the defense held Clarkston to 18 points in the 1st half and only 6 points in the 2nd half. The Lapeer offense just couldn't get going and Clarkston cashed in with points after Lapeer turnovers. Preston VanDerWerken had a QB sack and recovered a Clarkston fumble for a turnover. The Lapeer defensive line and inside linebacker play were solid as well. The final score does not reflect how close the game was on the field. Lapeer Freshman Football plays AT Saginaw United next week. Freshman Record: 1-1
