Santa Ana, CA — JV lost a tight match this afternoon. It was tied 3-3 after round 1; 5-5 towards the end of round 2; then the Knights started pulling away. We mixed and matched doubles partners, looking for efficient combinations before league play - and paid a price for it, winning only 2 sets of doubles all afternoon. Logan Lebsack and Luke Krolikowski opened up the match defeating their top team in an exciting tie-breaker. In round 2, Robert Thornton and Alex Gibson defeated the #3 Knights doubles team in a great cone-from-behind set win. Singles accounted for 5 of our 7 set wins, with both Kayden Kral and HB Warner winning 2 each and earning MVP honors. Johnny Tavares picked up an additional set in round 3. Despite the loss, not a bad outing for the team. Head to head, with no subs, we probably come away with a victory; but that’s not what pre-league matches are for. Next up: Dana Hills at home, tomorrow, 3pm.
