Recap
Allentown, PA — Your Freedom Patriots ended their regular season by taking Dieruff to the woodshed!
The Pates offensive tallied 17 runs on 20 hits in just 5 innings. John Phillips led the team going 4-4 with 3 RBI's. Cobb, Suarez, Peluso, Kullman, Walker, and Horvath all had multi-hit games leading to the route.
Freedom was coming off a tuff loss to cross town rival Liberty and needed a shot of confidence to carry into EPC Playoffs. The Patriots cap their regular season off with a 12-8 record and a six seed in the EPC Playoff Tournament. The boys will travel to Nazareth on Monday at 4pm for their first round game in a rematch of last years loss in the first round of Districts.
Since that match up in Districts last year, Freedom has come up short against Nazareth in their two regular season matchups this season. However, The Pates proved to be a problem for the Blue Eagles in both match ups. Freedom was able to rack up 10 runs on 13 hits in their first match up holding the lead throughout the game up until the 5th inning where the defense caught a cause of the "yipes" leading to an uncharacteristic 9 errors which led to the loss. In the second regular season game Walker and Heineman pitched a heck of game but the offense, that did tallied 6 hits, just could not string any of them together to get on the scoreboard.
But, if you asked anyone on the team if they were concerned about getting the Blue Eagle monkey off their back, they would emphatically tell you, "not a chance". As we have seen with this years Freedom Patriots, there is simply a different feel. Coach Bisco has challenged the team with being the team that believes they deserve to be amongst the elite within this conference. When they put it together and play with swagger, they have the ability to beat anyone in this conference. And this season we have seen them put it together more often then not. Come out an support your Pates on Monday as they look to make run towards the campionship!
