Allentown, PA — The Freedom Patriots took on the Liberty Hurricanes in a matchup at Coca~Cola park. Big rivalry game on a big stage calls for players to step up. Big players make big plays and that man to step up and and be the big player for the Pates was Chase Walker. Walker got the start on the mound Monday afternoon for Freedom. Chase walked the lead off batter, while trying to figure out the umpires strike zone, which was the followed error on a ground ball on the infield to leave first and third with no one out. Walker then locked in and sat down the next three on strikeouts to hold Liberty scoreless! Ledee led off the bottom of the third inning with a walk followed by a key sacrifice bunt by Kiefner advancing Ledee to second base. The sophomore then took third on a past ball and scored on a ground out to second by Horvath giving Freedom a 1-0 led after three innings. That is all Chase needed to shut out Liberty as he proceeded to go 7.0 innings working around 3 hits, 2 walks and coming up in big spots punching out 7 Hurricanes. Andrews and Ledee accounted for Freedoms 2 hits on the afternoon as Liberty came to play as well. Big win for the Pates as we look to a busy week of baseball if the rain holds out.
