West Bend, WI — The Spartans had five home runs to back the shutout pitching of Maiya Tearney and Shae Hagel. Mia Buske led off the game with a home run, Lindsay Sandleback was hit by a pitch and Ava Thelen hit a two-run dinger to put West up 3-0 three batters into the game. Paige Guse hit a three-run dinger in an eight-run second inning for the Spartans. Tearney plated three runs with her homer in the third and Thelen capped the scoring with a three-run blast in the fourth. Tearney was 3-for-3 with a single, double home run and four runs batted in. Thelen was 3-for-3 with her two homers and six RBI. Karissa Jenz and Riley Weber were each 2-for-2 and Buske had two hits. Tearney worked four scoreless innings for the win and Hagel worked the final inning to preserve the shutout. The Spartans improved to 16-4 overall and to 15-1 in North Shore Conference play.
