Roseville, CA — On Wednesday, 2/28 the Vanden JV Vikings tamed the Tigers from Roseville High School by a score of 5-4. The win improves Vanden’s overall record to 2-1 for the season. The Vikings were led on the mound by the starting pitcher, sophomore Ryan Watson. He was credited with the victory for his 4 innings of work in which he did not surrender any runs. Watson allowed 2 hits, struck out two and issued 4 walks. Dylan Pineda again took the mound to close the game out. Pineda got the job done and picked up his second save of the season. Offensively, the JV Vikings got 9 hits from 8 different players. Caiden Hitchcock was the only Viking to have multiple hits. He was 2-2 with two solid line drive singles, and scored a run. Other notable Vikings: Gino Scerbo (1-3, run scored), Nolan Brewer (1-2, RBI, Sac Bunt), Hayden Book (1-3, RBI, run scored), Devin Drumheller (1-2, 2 RBI).
