Oshkosh, WI — Oshkosh North had 11 hits, but Maiya Tearney and her defense kept the host Spartans off the scoreboard in all but one inning. North scored three unearned runs in its half of the fifth inning.
It was a 1-0 game on Mackenzie Rolf's leadoff triple in the second inning and the first of Tearney's two sacrifice flies.
The visiting Spartans scored five in the top of the fifth with five straight hits. Ava Thelen singled home two runs and Rolf hit a towering three-run homer to center.
West strung six consecutive hits in a six-run sixth inning, including a two-run single by Paige Guse.
Rolf was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and home run. Guse was 3-for-4, Lindsay Sandleback went 3-for-5 and Thelen and Morgan Storts had two hits each.
West improved to 7-2 on the season and is 6-1 in North Shore Conference play.
