Newport Coast, CA — Under the direction of our “Guest” Coach Jena Metzger Roghair, our JV Prep boys had a huge turn-around victory over Sage Hill, leveling out their season record to 6 wins vs 6 losses = best record ever for this level! Must have been the team bonding party and extra workout at Stirling’s house last Sunday! - thank you McLaughlin family. JV Prep previously lost to Sage Hill 12-6, so this was a huge win, especially missing 2 of our stronger players. Reverting back to lopsided strength in singles, JSerra won 7 sets in singles as all 3 starters earned MVP status for perfect outings. Niko Abraham won all 3 at line #1, while Stirling McLaughlin and Zach Moncur each won both sets played before subbing out. Great job guys. Doubles got 3 wins spread across the 3 lines: Jason Do and Anson Albertson picked up 1 set at line 3, while Robert Schweitzer and Santiago Jimenez picked up a win at line 2. Saving the best set for last, which it was - with everybody watching, kudos to Micah Verburg and Noah Lau who won an exciting, super long tie-breaker by the score of 16-14? or 14-12🤪!!! Coach Jena was very impressed with your level of play, your team togetherness, and your enthusiasm ! If anyone took pictures, you can upload them into this “game page” or send to Keith. Thank you. Next up: JV Prep and JV are REQUIRED to be at all HOME CIF playoff games to root for your varsity teammates.
