San Juan Capistrano, CA — The 2024 Boys varsity tennis opened up with a big win yesterday at home, versus El Toro. "We know El Toro is in a lower division, but, their coach was the first one to add us to her schedule 17 years ago and we've been playing ever since," says KOach. "We get everyone in the game via substitutions, but, it is tough because the big guns do not want to rotate out." Emilio Salgado supplied the final act of entertainment with a come-from-behind victory at line #3 singles, 7-5 to give the Lions the 18th set and preserving the 18-0 bagel, which is difficult to do. Freshmen newcomers performed beyond expectations, Michael Geffrey and Alex Brown in singles while veterans from our CIF runner up team from 2023 swept the remaining 12 sets. EVERYONE was an MVP in this, many skull/crossbones will be awarded! And, what a turnout from our parents, family's, girlfriends and fans! You are the best!!! The road gets rough right away though, as the Lions host Foothill next Tuesday. GO LIONS!!!
