Burnt Hills, NY — The Burnt Hills Spartans took Wednesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 2-1 walk-off victory over Guilderland. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the seventh when Timothy Venditti doubled, scoring one run. Both teams were strong on the bump. Both team’s pitchers struck out 10 batters each. The Spartans were the first to get on the board in the first when Venditti singled, scoring one run. Christian Walsh hit a sacrifice fly, which helped Guilderland tie the game at one in the top of the third. Venditti earned the win for Burnt Hills. He surrendered one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking one. Jayden Henderson took the loss for the Dutchmen. He went one-third of an inning, giving up one run (zero earned) on one hit, striking out one and walking one. Ben Yerina stepped on the mound first for the Spartans. The righty surrendered four hits and one run over six innings, striking out eight and walking two. Cole Miller, the star left-handed pitcher for Guilderland surrendered six hits and one run over six innings, striking out nine and walking two. Venditti provided pop in the middle of the lineup, driving in both runs. He went 2-for-3 on the day. Venditti and Matt Martin each collected two hits for the Spartans. Ryan Thomson, Evan Harbeck, Evan Wickham, Kyler Ackert, and Walsh each collected one hit for Guilderland. Walsh went 1-for-2 at the plate as the right-handed hitter led the team with one run batted in. The Burnt Hills Spartans play in Cooperstown at Doubleday Field on Thursday against Cohoes in their next game.
