Westborough, MA — The Badlands showed up in a big way in Northboro tonight as Wachusett beat Marlboro 5-2, capturing their 11th Boro's Cup Championship before a packed crowd. After a scoreless first period, Travis Laidlaw took a feed from Parker Meyer and raced down the left side and sniped a wrist shot over the goalie's glove to put Wachusett up 1-0 at the 3:20 mark. Just 5 seconds later, Jason Flaherty made it 2-0 on a feed from his brother Ryan. Jason would extend the lead to 3-0 at 6:51 of the 2nd on an unassisted power play goal. Marlboro would score a goal at the end of the second to make it 3-1 and they opened the scoring in the 3rd pulling to within 3-2 before Wachusett took back control of the game. Wachusett outshot Marlboro 11 - 5 in the 3rd. Parker Meyer scored at 3:18 of the 3rd on a power play goal assisted by Jason Flaherty and Thomas Willman and Flaherty would cap off the scoring at 14:15 on another power play goal assisted by Meyer. Flahery and Meyer were named to the All-Tournament Team and Thomas Willman was named the Tournament MVP.
