Ridgefield, CT — The Tigers took an early lead in this match and had too much fire-power for arch-rival Wilton. Freshmen Carter Lanzilli, Brody Block and Dylan Myers started the Tigers off with 3 early pins. Senior captain Dom Barella won by pin at 126. Johnny Carrozza earned a major decision at 132 and Leo Moore picked up a forfeit at 138. Lorenzo Lanzilli had an exciting match and picked up a pin with little time left in the clock in the third period. Luciano Tuminello picked up a pin at 152 followed by Victor Petkov at 157. Sophomore Marcello Tuminello battled Wilton’s Senior Captain Lorenzo Carratozzolo at 165. Marcello was up 5-0 early, but Carratozzola leaned on experience to pull out the win. At 175 Wyatt Podielsky lost out to a defending FCIAC champion Sam Poretta bumped up to the 190 weight class to fill hole in the line-up. Sam battled like a warrior against a much larger wrestler. Sam’s grit and determination go the crowd going. Although he fell short in the match he showed the heart of a lion. Jaidyn Chang 215 showed the Tigers what they had been missing while he was out over the last few weeks. Jaiyden made easy work of Wilton’s heavyweight with a pin. JV matches: There were a number of competitive JV matches The JV match highlight came from Davis Devito who executed a pictured perfect single for a takedown and quickly worked toward a pin. Will McKinstry and Lucas Locatelli had string matches , showing a variety of skills on their feet and on the mat. Sam Poretta picked up a win in his JV match along with Jaidyn Chang.
