Cass City, MI — Freeland Falcons Varsity defeated Cass City Red Hawks Varsity 13-0 on Monday at Cass City Jr/Sr High School thanks in part to seven runs in the second inning. Freeland Falcons Varsity got on the board in the top of the first inning after Dee tripled, and Rump singled, each scoring one run. Freeland Falcons Varsity scored seven runs on five hits in the top of the second inning. Laceski singled, scoring one run, Shavrnoch doubled, scoring one run, Dee grounded out, scoring one run, Metiva doubled, scoring one run, Gerzseny singled, scoring two runs, and Duley doubled, scoring one run. Freeland Falcons Varsity added to their early lead in the top of the third inning when Rump singled, scoring one run, Metiva singled, scoring two runs, and Duley was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. McLaren earned the win for Freeland Falcons Varsity. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking two.
