Santa Ana, CA — Due to the Hangar Fire, we needed to quickly relocate to Century High School. The Centurions welcomed the Knights for the preseason scrimmage in their stadium underneath the lights. The Knights had the lion's share of opportunities and Matthew Mendoza kicked off the scoring in the 37th minute off a long ball from Dylan Hicks that probably shouldn't have gotten through. Mendoza's pressure and pace was too much for the back line and he slotted it away to give the Knights the 1-0. The second half opened with a renewed energy from Century and saw them applying additional pressure. The Knights still had most of the possession and the dangerous chances but couldn't seem to find the back of the net. Unfortunately, in the 64th minute, a mistake in the back line gave away possession right in front of goal and the striker from Century buried a beautiful shot, upper left corner to bring them level. Despite the pressure by Foothill, the game ended tied 1-1 and Knights left disappointed knowing that the could have and should have done better. It is an exciting prospect considering the potential of this Knights offense when they really start clicking.
