Aliso Viejo, CA — JSerra lost today on scoreboard but had many 'wins'! Lauren Kim's great comeback in the 3rd round will be one of the best matches of the whole 2023 program! With both teams watching [as all other matches were complete] Lauren fought back from a 1-4 deficit to clinch our sole singles win today. These two ladies had long hard-fought rallies, both of them winning key points. The format de jur was no tiebreakers, simply play the 9th game in rotation and 'Beatle' it. LAuren got up 40 - 15 on her serve, lost that point, but had a great crosscourt backhand, totally out of reach for her Wolverine opponent! Lauren was initially reluctant to play singles today, but everyone was glad she did! Doubles play was our specialty today with lines 1 and 2 capturing 2 sets each; Emily Meyers, Emma Doss and Mia at line 2; while Josie, Maddie and Jessica duplicated that effort. "Aliso had good depth, which hurt us at line 3 in singles and doubles, but those players are showing much improvement. I enjoyed the match today and was impressed with our progress, especially in doubles." Koach Kirk also noted that Aliso definitely stacked their singles today.
