Newport Beach, CA — Despite the loss, this was a fun rematch to be involved with. There was some very good tennis and some great individual effort today. First, thank you all PARENT drivers who helped us get the whole team there. While we actually won the only 2 tie-breakers today - both by MVP Flo Michael ! - we came up short on FIVE 4-6 sets and TWO 5-7 sets. MVP Gianna Gancar “schooled” their top player 6-1 in the opening round and then beat their # 2 player 6-3. She was the only JSerra player to topple their best player. Gianna would most likely have won all 3 sets had she not had to sit and get cold for 45 minutes waiting for her final set. Ella Joutz won a decisive set 6-1 in the opening round which accounted for our 5th singles win for the afternoon. The only doubles set won today, kudos to Jackie Thielman and Sydney Shaw in round # 2, a fairly ez 6-1 win vs their #2 team in round 2. Next up: Saturday, Sept. 22nd - CRIMSON Squad at San Clemente, 10 am start, 9:15 warm up. GOLD Squad vs Canyon at JSerra, home courts, 1pm w a 12:30 Warmup.
