Littleton, CO — Our 2023 campaign begins with a tough lesson about the difference between wanting to, and doing what it takes, to get it done. We didn’t get beat last night. We beat ourselves. But, as we build this program brick by brick, adversity is where we find our true selves. Defeat is a tool, when utilized correctly - to reflect, refocus, and dig deep to get better. Not only on the field, but with the heavy lifting it takes to change - change our habits, change our thoughts and to CHANGE OUR CULTURE… It's not all about wins and losses. Its about BEING WINNERS in everything we do. It starts with fundamentals, the little things that make a huge difference. Its about integrity and earned credibility each and every day. We don't lose on Thursday/Friday nights. It all happens from the moment one game ends, and the way we prepare for the next one. Its about being mentally, emotionally, and spiritually strong. Strong enough to fight through our biggest challenges, which most of the time, are within our own selves. That's right - we are our worst enemy right now... But, we saw a lot of good things! For many - this was there first real VARSITY game. Some players haven't even taken a snap at a youth game let alone a varsity match. I feel like we fought to the last play. We also fought through our self imposed challenges. When those go away, we'll win games like this!! Not much time to lick our wounds, back to work! Go Lions! Coach V
