Ionia, MI — IONIA- Ionia (2-2, 2-1) beat Olivet 44-13 in the annual Purple Game for community cancer awareness. Ionia got a three and out on their first series. Travis Tucker Jr. scored on a one yard drive that capped off a 99 yard opening drive. On the drive Henry Castle had a 17 yard reception. Ionia got stops on two more Olivet drives without allowing a first down. Tucker scored again from 13 yards out and scored on the two point conversion to make it 15-0. Tristian Ciganick scored on the next series to make it 22-0. Ionia got a stop on Olivet's 3 yard line and was able to move the ball down to the Olivet four yard line for a Parker Seidlman field goal to make it 25-0 at the half. Spencer Tooker had two catches on the drive to help move the ball. To open the second half Tucker Jr. scored his third TD to finish the game with 228 yards on 15 carries. The Bulldog offensive line was dominant, rushing for 399 yards on the night. Brennan Brownell added 54 yards and Wolton Sandborn added 64 and a TD. Spencer Tooker added a kickoff return TD as well. Defensively Henry Castle and Brennan Brownell each had four tackles and Wyatt Erridge added three more. Ionia travels to Charlotte next week at 7:00.
