Recap
Battle of the “Easter Peeps”
Mission Viejo, CA — Last match of the season for the Gold Squad…
better tennis than the lopsided score suggests. There were 4 tie-breaker sets, 3 x 4-6 set losses and 6 x 3-6 set losses.
With a few missing players, everyone got to play 3 full sets this afternoon, great way to finish a remarkable season. Players on both sides enjoyed themselves, some made new friends “across the net.”
Chloe Gallaher and Milan Jepsen won a back and forth tie-breaker set in round 3, giving us a late set victory in round 3.
2 other tie-breakers were going on at the same time. Josie Andersen w Emily Volk on court #5, and Emily Meyer w Sydney Veazey on court #1. And, in the opening round, Abi Damron w Lauren Kim went “TB” with a very hard hitter/ server.
Fiona Huhn w Emma Withycombe and Grace Helfer w Ella Dietrich all fought back in the final round, putting pressure on their opponents with NGU attitudes and effort.
Court by court, there was great tennis all around. Unfortunately coaches Kirk and Jena were up in Anaheim watching varsity and didn’t get to witness your season ending performances. However, we are very proud of this team and your accomplishments.
Their coach, parents and players voted you the nicest, friendliest team in the league…I’m pretty sure some of them told you that, I just wanted to repeat it. You R-O-C-K !!!
Crimson Squad vs San Clemente Saturday for the season finale, 1pm on our courts.
