Fountain Valley, CA — Fountain valley is always a tough place to play - lots of activity, old balls mixed up w new ones, windy, and usually a drum corp practicing for football games - at least that wasn’t going on. However, they are more lax about letting our parents sit court side, so for that we give thanks. This is what JV and Varsity formats are like and over half our FS matches: 3 courts of singles and 3 courts of doubles x 3 rounds for a total of 18 sets. We were fairly balanced winning 4 singles sets and 3 doubles sets. MVP honors go out our JSerra Lions who won 100% of their sets played today, right?…. you can’t ask more of them :) Handling line #1 duties and winning all 3 doubles sets played are MVP’rs Jenny Ji, Chloe Gallaher and Emily Meyer. Well played. MVP honors also go to 1 of our singles players, playing singles for the first time this season, winning the 2 sets she was asked to play in: Jessica Jenkins. Great job! MVP Lauren Kim won the only set she was assigned to, a close tie-breaker with everybody watching at the end of the day’s action. Nice :) Kudos to Jalyssa Pantoja Barraza who defeated their #3 player in round 1, before facing a tough # 1 player in the 2nd round. Another stat hidden in the “footnotes” - JSerra won 4 of 5 tie-breakers which is a great “habit” to get into. Next up: A & C squads at Capo Valley, Sat. Sept. 9th, 10am.
