San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra’s Crimson Squad battled a very strong San Clemente team in an all doubles dual this afternoon, losing 4-14 despite some good efforts on all 6 lines of play.
San Clemente showed up in large numbers w 23 F/S players and 40+ fans, along w Uncle Brad and Coach Gary, long-time friends of the Orahood families. (Brad was their photographer who brought that fantastic guacamole)
With our Gold Squad playing yesterday, we had exactly 12 “crimson” players needed to play all doubles today, so everybody got to play 3 full sets.
We got 2 wins in round #1, and 2 wins in round #2.
MVP Honors to Jessica Jenkins and Gianna Gancar winning an opening round set, 6-4 and coming tie-breaker close in a great set up on court #1 in round #2.
Congrats to MVP’rs Analia Taft and Jalyssa Pantoja-Barraza, who won a very long first round set, 6-4.
Winning a 2nd round set on court #2, additional MVP honors go out to Flo Michael and Maddie Tran. Well played.
Last but not least, MVP honors to Lauren Harkins who won a 2nd round match on court #6 w an SC sub Rell, when partner Jackie Thielman had to retire due to illness. (Rell learned tennis from Coach Keith and the SC coach , Gary, learned tennis from coach Kirk!)
Boxi Gambol w Ella Joutz, and Emma Doss w Mia DeWames played strong tennis as well at lines 1 & 6.
We ended w a BBQ for all players and spectators.
