Santa Ana, CA — Foothill is a perennial power in Orange County tennis, this is the school varsity beat 2 years ago for the CIF title….so we knew it wouldn’t be an EZ afternoon. (Varsity lost by the same score today.) JV performed better than the scores, should have been 5-7 going into the 3rd round. Riley Godber and Arina Wagner won a back and forth tie-breaker in the opening round of play. In round #2, Abby Godber and Peyton Salas beat the Knight’s strongest doubles team 6-4 in an exciting set. Alex Marsh battled for over an hour in the opening round of play to defeat their top singles player 6-4 in a very tough set. GG Fernandez stepped in and won 6-4 in the middle round. GG and all these winners get MVP honors for this afternoon. Well done. Although losing 10-12 in the tie-breaker, kudos to Chiara Manta and Kinsley Moore for not giving up when they were down 6-1 and kept fighting their top doubles team.
