San Juan Capistrano, CA — JSerra Lions 2023 Varsity opened up league today with a 12-6 home victory over OLu. MVP's , winning 3 of 3 played were; Ellie and Jazmine in doubles and Scarlett sweeping 3 in singles. Naomi picked up 2 singles as did Kylie with Aerin in dubs. This was an awesome turnaround from recent matches and these ladies won this match with these 10 sets, BUT, the great thing of today was unexpected play at line #3 singles and line #3 third subs in doubles. The former was Sophia Staff dismantling the Lancers line 3 the first round AND then collecting 3 games off line 2 and 2 games off line 3! These games [in defeat] are what help us win 9-9 tiebreakers! KOach is very happy with what he saw from Sophia Staff today! But, wait!!! There's more! Bella Aftabi and Sophia Stewart rotated in in round 3against OLu's #1 team and defeated them 6-3! This was a tremendous upset, but, not for KOach! "I think we just found our line 3 doubles team and know we sewed up line 3 singles. "Sophia Staff played above her potential today and I think that will continue to be the case" says KOach."She worked hard all summer, lessons and tournaments, which is the key. In the doubles, Bella ruled the net while Stewy ripped serves and groundies from the baseline. The team is finally starting to jell and it is just in time."
