Shawnee, KS — Our boys played a really good game against 6A powerhouse Mill Valley. We went toe to toe for 68 minutes with them before injuries caught up to us. Both teams went back and forth in the first half. Mill Valley showed their talent when they were able to put one in on us in the first half. Their attacker was able to find a sliver of space against our defender and drill it in the back of the net. We fought the whole second half, we shuffled players in and out and gave a lot of guys their first real taste of varsity soccer. Player of the game was Jackson McWilliams. He came up with some huge saves for our team to keep us in the game. Also standouts were Lachlan McRae and Gavin Shupe. Look to see more from those guys this coming season. Overall I am proud of he boys and the result. They worked their tails off and didn’t give up against what some would say is the best team in the state in all classes. I think these guys have the chance to be special. We have one of if not the hardest schedule for a 4A team. We will gain great experience this season and hope to be able to take on anyone in the playoffs. The boys will have a light practice Wednesday to get their muscles moving as they prepare for their game against 5A Lansing on Thursday at home.
