Overland Park, KS — The boys had a rare Saturday game against KCC. The first game in a cooler weather against one of the top teams in the state. KCC was a formidable foe against our guys and it really was a battle that could have gone either way. KCC was able to get ahead off 2 set plays. An unlucky handball in the box led to a converted PK for KCC. The second goal came off a free kick from a penalty committed outside the box. KCC scoring only 2 goals and both on set plays gives you an idea that we are at the same level and could come away with a win if playing them again. The boys created a lot of chances against KCC and really could have had a 4-0 lead against them. We just need to continue to work on our finishing and getting the ball in the back of the net. Lachlan McRae was a standout defensively for our team. He locked down the Top KSHSSA Career goal scorer (#11) from KCC and didn't really allow him a chance on goal. Jackson had yet another great game. He kept us in the game and had some big saves for us through the entire game. Our Top KSHSSA Career Save leader was up to the challenge to KCC. Ethan Butler was finally back from injury. He has great recovery speed and really had a great game against KCC. Andrea and Gavin were able to be dominant in the midfield and helped create some good chances KCC. Jameson was great at top and had a few chances for us. Wyatt Garvey had some extended time against KCC and really came up with some stellar chances for us. Carter Watson continues to grow and is becoming a solid varsity player that can play all around the field. The boys have 3 regular season games left. They all will be tough matchups but all games that the boys can come out on top.
