Highlanders start the year on top after being named the underdog for game 1 with a 22 -8 win over Orchard Lake St. Mary’s

Orchard Lake, MI — The action got started with Heppner in the first quarter with an interception to run for a TD. Then the extra point was good by Monter giving Adams an early lead or 7-0.
The Eaglets attempted to drive down the field, but Hart had alternative plans with another Highlander interception and takes us to our 50 yard line.
Unfortunately, the Highlanders had a turn over on down, but defense steps up once again with Humbert picking up a fumble and taking it into the end zone giving giving Adams a 13-0 lead.
There appeared to be a little trouble with the snap, but Tillotson assured there wasn’t an issue as he connect to Hess for a 2 point conversion. Highlanders 15-0.
Defense continued to dominate setting the Adams up for another opportunity in the 1st quarter to score again. Watters had an explosive run that set up a 15 yard completed pass to Prieskorn for a TD! Another extra point is good by Monter giving the Highlanders a 22-0 lead to end the first.
We start 2nd quarter with an OLSM touchdown, but the extra point was blocked by leaving the score 22-6.
Defense continued to shine with Lars Lott with a sac on the QB.
Highlanders struggled with a snap which led to OLSM getting a safety leaving the score 22-8.
Farris answered with an interception for Adams. Unfortunately both teams have been plagued with turnovers leading into half time.
3rd quarter was quiet with back and forth handles of the ball leaving the score 22-8.
Highlanders start the 4th quarter with Watters completing a pass to Heppner for a 1st down.
Watters then gets sacked for a loss of 4. Defense steps up again with Offer intercepting with 3:58 left in the game. Defense stayed strong with a Prieskorn sack to the QB finalizing the game for a Highlander victory.
