Recap
Grand Terrace, CA — Elsinore Football won it’s 2023 season opener 29-6 on a warm Thursday night at Grand Terrace High School. It turned out to be an old fashioned, physical, run heavy Wing-T vs. Double Wing battle. There were no losers at the handshake when 22 players at a time spent all night fiercely competing for their schools in tight quarters.
The Tiger Offense was led by senior RBs Caden Maxfield (2TDs), Oscar Flores, Julian Santoyo(2pt.), and Ryu-Ken Robinson(TD), who ran for over 300 yds behind the physical blocking of Senior OL Micah Davis and Jackson Ferguson, along with senior TEs Orlando Olmos and Nick Gonzalez. Elsinore also took to the air during a first half 2 minute drill with Sophomore Qb Brayden Stankus throwing his first career TD pass to returning All Ivy league Senior WR Andrew Irvin.
The defense made a fierce statement by shutting out the big, physical Titan offense. This unit was led by Senior DLs Kalui Costa and Joey Garcia (2TFLs), LBs Olmos and Robinson, and sure-tackling dbs Maxfield and Santoyo (blocked kick)
We can’t wait to see everyone on Friday 8/25/23 as we will write another special chapter in the 96 year history of Elsinore football. Prior to the game at 6:30 pm, we will Induct Legend and All Time Winningest Elsinore Football Coach Tony Peralta into the presitigious EHS Football Hall of Fame!
Following the pregame celebration, our Elsinore Football team will have the honor and privilege to play in one of the best rivalry games in Southern California against Temecula Valley. The Tigers battle against the Golden Bears for the “Perpetual Triohy”, which has been awarded to the school who wins this game ever since Temecula Valley opened in the 1980s. This game is also known as the “Civil War”, which is a reference to the fact that TVHS was initially populated with many former EHS students and staff who left for the new school. Come check out our home opener and be part of something special.
Claws Out Tigers!
