Honesdale, PA — HONESDALE — Aiden Collins threw three touchdown passes to a trio of receivers and three different players ran for scores as Honesdale rolled to a 48-7 win over Lakeland in a Lackawanna Football Conference Division II game Friday night. Collins connected with Cameron Hedgelon on a fade pattern for a 24-yard touchdown less than three minutes into the contest. Honesdale (2-4, 1-0 Division II) added another touchdown just before the end of the first quarter when Mason Avery, who rushed for 194 yards, scored on a 1-yard plunge. Collins found Bradley Bibalo for a 30-yard completion on 4th and 15 to keep the drive moving. After an 0-4 start, Collins feels the Hornets are moving in the right direction after two consecutive, convincing wins. “It gives us a little bit of momentum and we just need to keep it going,” he said. “We have another two big games coming up and we need to focus week-by-week on getting the win.” Kobe White, who later scored on a 5-yard run, hauled in a 21-yard touchdown pass from Collins to put Honesdale ahead 21-0 with just over three minutes remaining in the second quarter. Collins believes the Hornets’ balanced offense makes the team difficult to stop. “They’re all good receivers and you can’t forget about the line,” he said. “They’re always putting in the work in the weight room and it really showed tonight.” Lakeland (1-5, 0-1) scored its only touchdown of the game on the ensuing possession when David Naniewicz hit Chase Rosenkrans on a slant for a 52-yard score. Bibalo opened the third quarter scoring with a 19-yard scamper and Hedgelon tacked on the two-point conversion. “Our kids just kind of got after it,” Honesdale head coach Paul Russick said. “Offensively, being able to be balanced certainly helps.” Collins capped Honesdale’s next drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Conlan Keast. Avery made it three touchdowns in a row for the Hornets to start the second half, bursting through a big hole for a 60-yard score, giving Honesdale a 42-7 lead. The junior running back also praised the effort of his offensive line. “Our line puts in all the work during the week,” Avery said. “It was a rough start, so we just wanted to turn it around. Our line was looking amazing tonight.”
