Benton City, WA — The Columbia Coyotes traveled to Kiona Benton to take on the Bears on a Saturday afternoon. The Coyotes jumped on the Bears early with a steady dose of the run game capped with a long Elijah Kinsey TD run. The D stepped up big causing a turnover as Justin Hilberg jumped on the fumble giving the Coyotes great field position leading to a Matthew Wilder TD. These two touchdowns came in the first 8 minutes of the first quarter. The Coyote Defense was dominant in the matchup, causing 3 total fumbles and a Brandon Leahy Interception. With multiple sacks and tackle for loss they held the Bears offense to -47 yards rushing and 118 passing yards for a 71 yard net. The two headed monster of Kinsey and Wilder benefitted from some strong OLine play leading the Coyotes with over 250 rushing yards and 4 TD’s. Another rushing TD was tacked on late by freshman running back Jacob Johnson. The 44-8 victory brings the Coyotes back to 1-1. This week has the Coyotes taking on the Bears at home on Monday night in a JV battle and then the Varsity a coyotes are back on the field Thursday night when we host the Kittitas Coyotes!
