Burbank, WA — Friday night was opening night at Coyote Stadium. The stands were full on both sidelines to watch the hometown Columbia Coyotes take on the highly touted visiting Okanogan Bulldogs. The Bulldogs have recently had the Coyotes number, knocking them out of the playoffs two seasons ago and last year beating the Coyotes on the way to the state semi finals. The Coyotes started fast behind a veteran offensive line and senior running back Elijah Kinsey. The Coyotes chunked the ball down the field converting a huge third down until a fumble but the brakes on. The Bulldogs answered with a down hill run game that quickly out a couple of TD’s on the board. The Coyotes answered when senior QB Logan Beck connected with Elijah Kinsey in the back of the end zone for a Coyote TD. The Coyote D worked hard but in the final seconds of the first half Okanogan struck again. The Coyotes second have was riddled with penalties and mistakes however we had some great plays from Junior Crew Periera and Sophomore Matt Wilder. The Coyotes have a lot to be excited for this season and are looking forward to getting back on the field next Saturday at 1pm @ the Kiona Benton Bears. We encourage fans and parents to share photos and videos on this page of the amazing atmosphere our community brings to Coyote Stadium. It’s a great day to be a Coyote!
