Ionia, MI — The Ionia Girls Varsity Soccer team opened the season with a win on Thursday night. We’ve worked hard to get ready and prepare for the first game and we came out ready to play right off the start. Rylie Dinehart stole the opening kickoff and went down and scored a goal 15 seconds after the start of the game. 2 minutes later Tessa Masengale would steal the ball in the corner and score a goal. Ionia struggled to finish on chances and ended the half 2-0. Rylie Dinehart and Tessa Masengale would both score another goal in the second half tallying two each for the game. Tammy Ledesma got her first varsity start as a goalkeeper and posted a clean sheet shutout on the night. The Ionia varsity will travel to Lakewood on Monday with a 5:30 kick off.
