Cypress, CA — In a varsity-level high school golf match that took place on March 30, 2023, Los Alamitos high school defeated Laguna Beach high school by a score of 214 to 260. The match was held at the challenging Navy Destroyer golf course in Cypress, California. The two teams arrived at the course ready to warm up, but the range was closed. This is, unfortunately, becoming the norm with all the rain over the last couple of weeks, so all the players went into the first hole hoping for the best. The course provided a difficult challenge for the Breakers, playing into the wind, multiple holes with doglegs, tiered greens, and numerous water hazards. Los Alamitos played well on their home course and Laguna Beach struggled with some difficult holes and was unable to keep pace. Laguna Beach's top performer was junior, Russell Franconi-Krychman; he had a shakey start with several bogies but finished with a respectable score of 44. Laguna Beach's players, while disappointed with the loss, remained upbeat and focused on improving their game in preparation for their next match.
