San Juan Capistrano, CA — Lions get shocked and awed in opening round 0-6 before fighting back closing gap in round #2, losing 12-6 by match end. HB Warner picked up our first set win in round #2, trouncing Eagles #2 player 6-0. Luke Krolikowski defeated this same player 6-1 in the 3rd round - our only 2 wins in singles. Trinity League has some tough little singles players: we’ve only got 4 set wins so far in league play, but should do better against Servite. Lions picked up 4 sets in doubles. Max Chiotis and Logan Lebsack defeated their top team 6-3, only doubles pair to do that. Kenny Perez and Andrew Whitehead won 1 of 2 sets played as well. Earning MVP honors today, kudos to 2 doubles teams who joined the 100% club, winning the only sets they played. Andrew Whitehead and Sam Gou defeated their #2 team 6-3; while Nick Barrios and Christopher Kempf won the last set of the day, 6-3 on court #1. Set point was a wicked short angle backhand by Christopher, taking his opponent into the wall. Next up: vs Servite at Fullerton Tennis Center, 2:30 on Tuesday, March 28th.
