San Juan Capistrano, CA — JV “netters” finish Trinity League play in 2nd place with strong outing vs Servite on home courts. First, kudos to Sam Gou and Issac Nguyen for best 2 sets of the day and a share of MVP honors. With team down 2-3 in first round, Sam comes back from 1-5 in tie-breaker to win 7-5! This is huge because it evens us up at 3-3 and gives the team “mo-mo” going into round 2, which we dominated 5-1. Subbing in for Sam due to his very long opening set win (with his bad racquet no less!), Isaac Nguyen came off the bench to upset their #2 player 6-2 with his best tennis of the year. Isaac looked like a varsity player out there today: strokes, shot selection and strategies - great job. MVP honors also to Kenny Perez and Max Chiotis, as they had another 3 win sweep afternoon. This should help them get seeded in league tourney next week. HB Warner also had a 3 set sweep afternoon for MVP honors. Winning all 3 vs Servite’s players not an ez task, all very solid and consistent players. After battling their top player, Jack McDermott won is next round easily: 6-2. We’ll done. Luke Krolikowski also picked up a set win vs their #3 player in round #2. Doubles players Nicholas Barrios with Logan Lebsack, Andrew Whitehead with Jacob LeBrun, and Alex Gibson with Michael Aceves all picked up important set wins in doubles. Well played guys. Next up: last duel match of year Thursday evening at Sage Hill, 5:30pm.
