Fountain Valley, CA — JSerra JV netters opened up league play with a solid win vs Mater Dei at Los Caballeros Sports Club this afternoon: 11-7. Doubles finally “showed up” sweeping all 9 sets played. MVP honors to our 3 starting teams who each won all sets played: Andrew Whitehead and Sam Gou defeated MD’s #1 and #2 teams before subbing out in round 3, they would have easily beat the #3 team had they stayed in. Max Chiotis and Logan Lebsack won all 3 sets played at line #2, as did Kenny Perez and Michael Aceves at line #3. MVP Kudos to you all. Alex Gibson and Jack McDermott sub’d in round 3 and beat their #3 team 6-0! Good efforts at singles, even though we had on 2 of 9 set wins. Lost a couple of tight sets, which I know will get turned around in our rematch. Nick Barrios beat their #3 guy 6-3 in the first round, nobody else was able to do that. Great opening round win Nick! Thomas Gormley beat their #1 player 6-3 in round #1 as well, nobody else beat that guy either. Good win for Thomas. Christopher, thanks for going in to battle that #1 player. Sorry I didn’t get that drop shot winner on camera :( You definitely “Jeffrey’d” him! Those 2 opening set singles wins made the difference in winning 11-7 as opposed to tying 9-9. It also gave us a big enough lead to put our bench players in the 3rd round. Next up: Tuesday, March 21st home vs Santa Margarita, 2:30pm.
