Denver, CO — Senior Max Hauer battled through adversity to lead the Spartans to a 6-3 league win over the George Washington Patriots. Hauer, making his 2nd start of the year, threw 95 pitches through 5 innings but only allowed 1 run while the Spartans built a 6-1 lead. Hauer walked 4 and gave up 4 hits, but some clutch strikeouts and a big double play kept runs off the board and allowed the offense to take advantage of a shoddy Patriots defense that committed 7 errors and a starting pitcher that battled command issues early on. Offensively TJ was led by Senior Emmanuel Wadkins who scored 2 runs and Junior Sloan Steimel who drove in his team leading 11th and 12th runs of the season. Sophomore Max Feierstein pitched the 6th inning, allowing 2 unearned runs, while Senior Dylan Huntsman earned his first save of the season, closing out the game with a pair of strikeouts. The win capped of a 5 game in 6 day stretch where the Spartans went 4-1. They'll enjoy a couple of practice days before returning to the diamond for their annual neutral site game against Pueblo East in Colorado Springs. This year's contest will be played on the campus of the Air Force Academy.
