Sacramento, CA — Vanden Vikings Varsity blew out McClatchy Varsity Lions 8-2 on Friday. McClatchy Varsity Lions took an early lead in the second inning. Hodges grounded out, scoring one run. Vanden Vikings Varsity took the lead for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Aidan Robles homered on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs and Jack Tranchina singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. David (DJ) Anderson got the start for Vanden Vikings Varsity. The righthander surrendered two runs on one hit over three innings, striking out one. Following Andersen was JoJo Torres who did not surrender a hit over two innings while striking out two. Brayden Bruno was lights out coming in the sixth inning and throwing a scoreless inning while striking out one. Lastly, Mr. Reliable Trevor Morse came in to close out the game and threw a scoreless seventh inning while striking out one. Viking pitchers only allowed one hit over the game. Vanden Vikings Varsity hit three home runs on the day. Robles had a dinger in the third inning. Tranchina went yard in the seventh inning. Cody Buckley had a homer in the fifth inning. Vanden Vikings Varsity tallied 12 hits on the day. Tranchina, Robles, and Buckley each managed multiple hits for Vanden Vikings Varsity. Robles and Tranchina all had three hits to lead Vanden Vikings Varsity.
