Westborough, MA — Jason Flaherty scored two goals in the opening 1:26 of the first period on Wednesday night putting the Mountaineers up early in the contest. Both goals were assisted by Freshman Cody Penniman. Westboro battled back to tie the score at 2 by the end of the first period. The score remained 2-2 until the 3rd period when Flaherty scored his 3rd goal of the night just over 4 minutes in on a feed from Dennis Jardine. After a power play goal by Westboro tied the score at 3, Flaherty scored his 4th goal of the night to put the Mountaineers ahead for good with under 5 minutes to play. That goal was assisted by Jardine and Breaeden McKenzie. Jardine would score the insurance goal on a breakaway set up by a great pass by Parker Meyer. Team defense was solid, led by Thomas Willman, Braeden McKenzie, Alec Thibeault and Nick Brousseau. And, Casey Dmochowski earned his 2nd straight win in the pipes for Wachusett, stopping 28 of the 31 shots he faced. The team will play Algonquin in the Finals of the Boro's Cup Saturday night at 8 pm.
