Cass City, MI — Cass City Red Hawks Varsity defeated Nouvel Catholic Central Varsity 12-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Carter Patrick induced a groundout from Hammins to finish off the game.
Cass City Red Hawks Varsity fired up the offense in the first inning. Riley Swiderski doubled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Cass City Red Hawks Varsity put up six runs in the second inning. Mike Fernald, Swiderski, Jackson Anthony, Luke Tschirhart, and Matt Mellendorf each had RBIs in the big inning.
A single by Wilson in the second inning was a positive for Nouvel Catholic Central Varsity.
Fernald was credited with the victory for Cass City Red Hawks Varsity. The righthander went two innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out three and walking one. Patrick threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Fernald, Swiderski, Mellendorf, Anthony, Garrett Reinke, Cohen Sherman, and Patrick each managed one hit to lead Cass City Red Hawks Varsity. Cass City Red Hawks Varsity was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Gavin Franzel had the most chances in the field with five.
