Irvine, CA — It was a tale of two different teams: Foothill vs Themselves. Coming off of a string of victories the JV Foothill Squad came to Irvine High School complacent with the expectation they could coast through a lesser squad. But when a team learns to coast whenever they can they will be ill-prepared when a real challenger comes. In the first half Foothill sized up Irvine correctly as an inferior team scoring early on a great through ball from Lincoln Luther to the aggressive and talented Edgar Padilla, who was on loan from Varsity. But from there it seemed the team dialed down their effort to match Irvine and barely ended the half up 2-0 on a goal from Tyler Hymel created by Juan Rodriguez. A great team doesn't coast, a great team kills. They have a killer instinct that always plays with something to prove to the world and more importantly to themselves. Great teams combine a belief they are the better team with the work ethic and pride to prove it. Foothill IS a great team they just need a reminder by the coaching staff of who they were and the encouragement to come out and show it. With something to prove to themselves the Foothill squad delivered an inspired 2nd half completely obliterating the competition. The squad delivered 6 goals with aggressive and active play by all members both on the ball and off. Here's the list of all directly involved with the games final score of 8-0.
