Recap
Santa Ana, CA — The JV Foothill Squad put up a decisive 3-1 win against Century on a drizzly night on the pitch at home.
Thier focus on ball movement back, sideways, and diagonally was implemented to excellent effect in the first goal coming early in the 11th minute. In a string of connected passing starting with Robbie Padilla on the left wing to the back field then through the middle they quickly found Miles Teranishi at the opposite wing. Miles served the cross into traffic where Juan Rodriguez's will and skill found the back of the net bringing them to 1-0.
The team maintained possession for most of the rest of the half with a solid defense and great ball movement.
With a half time rest and some fresh legs Foothill came out swinging with a flurry of offensive activity. The great energy brought by Tyler Hymel on the left wing created an opportunity deep in the corner in the 10th minute of the 2nd half.
With a beautiful, pure left foot cross from almost at the corner flag Tyler flew the ball in to the box to find Lincoln Luther just outside the six who buried the ball into the upper V with a perfect header, far out of the reach of the keeper bringing it to 2-0.
Century battled back finding a goal later in the half and causing a bit adversity for the Foothill Squad. But after fighting back the push from Century, Lincoln Luther shined again with an amazing through ball out of the back to find Miles Teranishi sprinting past the front line. Miles recieved the ball but was heavily defended with 2 backs step for step with him as he entered the box. Through sheer will power and desire he outworked the defenders and slipped the ball past the goalkeeper for their 3rd and final goal of the match. Final score 3-1 for a Foothill win!
An excellent showing by defense, midfield, and offense lead to a great team victory and a promising preseason look at good things to come!
Well done Knights!!
