Huntington Beach, CA — The Frosh/Soph team had a tough first round draw against a seasoned Mira Costa squad. After a difficult first half the Lady Sailors started to show signs of the greatness they possess with some tough defense and a few solid offensive possessions. Point guard Daisy Morales got robbed on a beautiful and one drive as she kissed the ball off the glass while being hammered by the Mira Costa defender. Unfortunately the blind striped police somehow saw the play the wrong way. Eden Tift showed who owned the key with multiple rebounds and a nice put back in the second half. Veronica Martinez’s tenacious defense gave Mira Costa ball handlers fits throughout the second half. Strong performances were exhibited from Bri Blair, Fatima Rameriz, Chase Carson, Izzy Goebel, Rylie Fairchild, Courtlyn Hamilton and the rest of the lady sailors. An outstanding coaching job as well by coach Mark. Now that the first game jitters are out of the way I feel sorry for tomorrow nights opponent. Go Lady Sailors.
