Huntington Beach, CA — After a squeaker first round win, the Lions picked up a round 2 win, 4-2 over the host school, Marina Vikings. Capturing wins in this round were Cordelia and Cecilia in singles with Olivia/Neeka and Kate/Sophia in doubles. Our respective scores were 8-3, 8-2, 8-0 and 8-3. So at this point in the tournament, Cecilia had won 16 games with only 2 losses and Kate/Sophia 16 games with 7 losses. Individual game talleys are only important if the set scores are tied 3-3. Julia had a tough tiebreaker loss 7-8 at line #2 singles while Ellie and Natalia ran up against the best 2 players on this team and took a 4-8 loss. KOach thinks they had the score tenders incorrect and thought they were cruising to a win. Their opponents were playing an advanced "I" formation, which we do NOT use for several good reasons. We discussed how to beat this arrangement, but, it was after the set. KOach takes the bullet for this. Bottom line, JSerra marches in to round 3 to play the other undefeated team, to see who advances to the final! GO Lions!
